Switch off autoplay on streaming services
Autoplay is the feature of every video streaming platform where once you've finished watching one video the next one is chosen for you and starts playing.
Autoplay is also the only reason anybody has ever seen the forth Pirates of the Caribbean movie and that is enough of a reason to switch it off.
There are two problems with allowing autoplay to make decisions for you.
- You can end up watching more than you originally intended. A single episode before bed can turn into a sleepless night of binging.
- You can end up watching something you would never have chosen to watch — usually mind numbing slop.
Give yourself more opportunities to stop binge watching and reduce your slop intake by switching off autoplay.
How to switch off auto play
Autoplay settings are located in different places on different streaming services — and even in different places on different versions of the same streaming service.
Usually the option will be in the settings under a heading named "playback settings" or something similar.
